INTRODUCING GRINDCORE BAND EPITOME

PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.

Dyvan: Hello everyone!

I'm Dyvan :)

I am the vocalist of the band EPITOME, on whose behalf I am writing to you now ;)

The EPITOME band comes from Poland and was founded in 1992 in Rzeszów. From the very beginning, the band had one goal: to grind death metal! And so it is to this day. During these 30 years of activity, the band recorded several albums, a 7-inch split with MESRINE, and of course also demo tapes. We managed to play several major concert tours, as well as recently jubilee concerts on the occasion of the band's 30th anniversary.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?

Dyvan: Our new album ("ROTend") had its premiere on September 9, 2022. The album was released thanks to Deformeathing Prod. On the album you can hear me as a vocalist, it is my debut in EPITOME :) The album contains 17 tracks closed in 30 minutes. So, as you might expect - it's fast and intense ;). I invite everyone to get acquainted with our work!

WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?

Dyvan: The inspiration to write such music is simply reality, our own experiences. Of course, we won't run away from the inspiration of the music we've been listening to since we were young "ponies" ;)

CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?

Dyvan: This music is wonderful! :D

WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?

Dyvan: There were several of these albums, they weren't released outside of Poland, so listing them doesn't really make sense ;) Especially that it wasn't metal music. But the bands Sepultura, Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse personally introduced me to the world of metal and grindcore. Also black metal had a huge impact on my life. Only I've never had any feelings for Heavy Metal and related genres. And I don't think that will ever change ;)

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?

Dyvan: YES! - MANIAC BUTCHER - Co Dobré Pro Mne, Dobrým Jest...

WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?

Dyvan: I don’t know! Because this reality on this level does not exist :)

DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?

Dyvan: Maybe a little bit, but not really, because I don't treat live performances as a kind of test. It's my pleasure! That's why I do it :)

HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?

Dyvan: I am not the founder of this band. Besides, there is no longer anyone in EPITOME who had a hand in its beginnings. Besides, who would remember such distant times? ;)

HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGEHTER?

Dyvan: As of today, the author of the music is Misiek, our guitarist. However, on the earlier albums, the music was written by other musicians who are not currently in the band, so it's hard for me to speak on their behalf. For my part, as a “textwriter”, I can say that before I write the lyrics, I have to understand what the riffs in the song could be about, I assume a certain theme and try to get something interesting out of it, put it together in some logical or illogical sense.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Dyvan: Everything!

WHAT IS NEXT?

Dyvan: We plan to play according to the number of concerts, of course we are open to any suggestions! As well as we are starting work on material for the new album, who knows - maybe it will be the last album in the history of EPITOME!
