"Nothing you’ve written means anything unless you get past that final 5% and get the record/track released" Irish rock band The Noble Front talk about the drive needed to make music.

Galway based rock band The Noble Front have released their self-titled debut. The project which was three years in the making is out now on streaming platforms. Lead singer and guitarist Barry Gleeson talks with us about the album.

WHICH SONG WOULD YOU SAY SUMS UP YOUR SOUND THE BEST?

This is a difficult one as the energy of the record varies through the tracks. More than likely the first track, Not For Me, if I had to choose.

DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC IN A FEW WORDS.

Genuine, raw, heavy-hitting, emotional.

WHO HAVE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES BEEN?

Metal, rock and the grunge scene: Alice in Chains, Metallica, Soundgarden, Slayer, Pantera, Pearl Jam etc.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC?

Finding new bands and being inspired by them to learn guitar. Surrounded myself with like-minded teens and formed bands, jammed and practiced and gigged. Still learning and trying to grow to this day.

WHAT IS THE CREATIVE PROCESS LIKE FOR YOU WHEN MAKING MUSIC?

I play loosely to begin the creative process; mess around with riffs/arpeggios/melodies. When I stumble upon something I like and think has potential, I develop it to the best of my ability. This includes writing a variety of vocal lines, putting drums to it, and building riffs around it (chorus/verse/bridge). If something comes from this worth keeping, then great! If not, I have to convince myself to drop it and start from scratch. Sometimes, especially after investing a lot of time and effort into trying to build a new track, it can be very difficult to cut ties and drop it completely.

WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD BE THE COOLEST COLLABORATION PROJECT BETWEEN YOU AND ANOTHER ARTIST?

There are so many great post-punk and rock bands coming out of Ireland and Galway. Working with some of these would be incredible e.g. Fontaines DC, NewDad, Idles (UK).

PLEASE TELL US A RANDOM FACT ABOUT YOURSELF.

I’m a teacher .

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?

In music: nothing you’ve written means anything unless you get past that final 5% and get the record/track released.

In life: surround yourself with optimists!

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT THE INDUSTRY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Ticketmaster monopoly.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Finalise band lineup, find shows and bring the live experience to life!
