Q & A: A MOMENTS NOTICE TALK PTSD AND ANIME

The band give us the low down on their new single and forthcoming album

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?

Hi my name is Greg Molina, Vocalist for A Moments Notice. Our latest single “Endless Waltz” was a really heartfelt song. When that song was recorded it was actually a solo project with myself and Jordan Alverez, our drummer. The song is about PTSD and the battle I overcame with it being a former soldier in the army.

WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?

The inspiration for the name actually came from an anime called “Gundam Wing Endless Waltz” the main character is a young man who is weaponized and created into the ultimate soldier. He fights all the internal battles and tries to be a better person over time but struggles with it every day. I related to that character so much with my time in the service I used the name to amplify the meaning. The endless dance within your own mind.

CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?

Currently, our album is being recorded, the best way to describe it is: we all go through battles and suffer and we want people to know that they aren't alone.

WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?

The one record that changed my life would be Imminence “Turn the light on”. The way the music effortlessly flows honestly made me an instant fan. The way Eddie Berg screams and sings plus plays violin just blew my mind. I was so speechless. All I knew is that I wanted to make more music after that record.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?

Again I would have to say Imminence, the key point is that they tell a story with the Turn the light on record. The music videos are so cinematic that it blows my mind how much went into the production of those videos. The band had a huge budget for those videos it seems like.

WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?

I work about 90 Hours a week. When I'm not working or making music I am home with my family. Spending time with my wife and step son is always an entertaining moment with laughter.

DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?

This band is fairly new even though it looks like on our streaming platforms we have played shows. We have yet to perform with this group but I drink a lot of tea and water and barely talk much before a

show. I breathe and listen to low-fi music and find my zen. You will always be nervous but as soon as the music goes and the fans go wild I personally feel like the nerves go away.

HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?

The band was originally formed as a solo project for myself, I personally had no idea if anyone would like it or even want to hear more. Nick Miller of A Skylit Drive and I sat in his studio writing our debut single “Silver Lining”. After that song Nick and I had a feeling the next song would catch attention to members. After our Second single came out, all our members came to me personally asking if they could be a part of it. Jordan, our drummer was the start and after that everything happened organically.

HOW DO YOU WRITE?

We typically all record guitar riffs and breakdowns and we bring them to practice. Once we have everything we pick elements of what we record and try to create our next song. The biggest part about this band that I love is that WE write music not one person. We all agree on what is best for the sound we want and we move forward with it.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

My fans are what inspire me, the friends who are in signed bands that are excited to hear our music. I have received so much love from other people that it inspires me to continue to write and try to release the best music humanly possible.

WHAT IS NEXT?

Next, we plan to release our next single which will be the first song as an official lineup called “Offerings”. This song will also have a music video to go with it. We will have more coming as the months' progress.
