Chaotic metalcore from Manchester
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
Hi, we are lure in, we are a chaotic metalcore band from Manchester, we started as a bedroom project between myself Cameron (the vocalist) & our bassist Jonny, we made our first ep derive in my bedroom and from there we sought out new members, which include James Whittle (guitar), Jake Coulson (Guitar) & Sammy Coker. We then put out our debut record subdued in May last year as well as a two track record late last year.
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
our new record is a split with our friends in Worm Hero, 4 songs on our end 6 songs on theirs, we both have quite a chaotic sound to us so we felt that it would be cool to join forces and give people a record that can act as a showcase for what the chaotic metal scene is like currently in the UK.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
For our side, I’d definitely say the influences vary song by song, the first is very Brian Eno esc, completely ambient, to which we then dive into more of a 00’s metalcore sound with a 2021 twist, I’d say the best mix to describe it would be the vocal inflection of a band like daughters, the riffing and grooves of bands like every time I die, norma jean, that crop of bands with some modern production that could incorporate drum & bass all the way to modern pop, in particular the pc music/hyperpop sound, from there we then introduce some post-rock guitar elements and we end the record something more akin to a movie score or a video game soundtrack.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
I’d say our side is the calm before the storm, and the storm kicks in and bodies a few buildings, the worm hero side is pretty much constantly a storm.
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
id say one of us is the killer by the Dillinger Escape Plan, it's the record that introduced me to extreme metal (or mathcore if you want to get technical), and that recordset me on a course to start this band, not to mention that record helped me find bands like every time I die, and norma jean, to which we are inspired by as well.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
a very good question to which I honestly don’t really know a specific music video that hits out at me, either from my band or any others, however, I would definitely say my favorite music videos come from a band called the armed, they have some extremely cool visuals going on, as well as getting some pretty big names in their vids like Tommy Wiseau & David Hayter.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
definitely a combination of watching tv or films, gaming, or reading, depends on member by member and day by day but it’d be between 3 of those things.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
Starting off I personally did, the rest of the band were quite confident but as it was my first time doing vocals live it was proper nerve racking, however after playing more shows, that side just went up and left and I’ve never been nervous since.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
the band was formed by myself and the bassist johnny, we were friends in high school and always wanted to do something so we wrote the first ep in my room, from there we looked for members so we could play live shows and James, Jake & Sammy joined, James and jake joined as I was already friends with them before the band started & with Sammy he was a friend of a friend and we all got on.
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
We currently just send audio files to each other, we’re quite fortunate to have recording equipment and a tech-savvy band so we just send stuff to each other and see what we can do with those ideas.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
I’d say it's similar to what our influences are on the record, but it's just thing we’re currently listening to, could be jazz, noise-punk, pop music, whatever, we always want to see what we can blend our sound with and that process helps us create, so in terms of influences you could put it down as pretty much anything but I’d say in regards to bands you could point out and say we are inspired by I’d say daughters, every time I die, norma jean, the chariot, and vein.
WHAT IS NEXT?
the plan is to drop this new project and from there when possible get back to playing live shows and playing this record out for people, we’d always be in a state of creation too mind so we’d most likely be working on new music too, so we’re going to be busy non the less.
