Under Pressure with the Swedish melodic Metal trio
PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF FOR US WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOU AND YOUR MUSIC AND TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF.
We are the melodic metal band “Pressure”. Our sound is a little bit of a mixture between metal rock, classic rock and folk music, with a lot of harmonies and great guitar riffs. We write our own music and a lot of our songs are about different kind of pressures you can find out there. The pressure can be good or bad and sometimes both. We write most of our songs so you can interpret them in different ways. We think everyday people can relate to our songs, it doesn’t matter if you are successful, rich, poor, a man or a woman.
The bandmembers are:
Simon – band leader, songwriter, lead guitarist.
Olof – lead singer, helps with song writing, rhythm guitar
Emil – Rhythm guitar, does our graphics
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Our latest single “Beaten But Not Dead” is a song about never giving up, yes you beat me, but I am not dead, and I will rise again… There is a lot of harmonies in this song and it has a really nice acapella intro.
WHAT INSPIRED THE ALBUM OR SINGLE?
Simon's son, who had a hard time inspired him to write this song.
CAN YOU SUM UP THE ALBUM IN A FEW WORDS?
Our upcoming album will be called Scream, Shout and Cry and it has a story to it. You can follow a person through a different part of life and relate to what is experienced. You will find yourself following the album as you would with a movie
WHAT RECORD CHANGED YOUR LIFE AND WHY?
Actually, its one of our owns songs “Osårbar” (“Untouchable” in English). This was our first own song that we recorded, and it changed my life because it made me realize I/we want to write our own music and take our music one step further.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO FILMED BY YOUR BAND OR ANOTHER ARTIST?
I like Robbie Williams live performance “Me And My Monkey”. It a totally different genre than ours but Robbie's presence and performance on that song is better than the recorded one.
WHAT WOULD WE FIND YOU DOING WHEN YOU'RE NOT MAKING MUSIC?
Simon will play his guitar until his fingers bleed.
Olof runs a bakery, so you will find him there making delicious things
Emil, kind of classified… (We don’t know and he can't tell us)
DO YOU GET NERVOUS PERFORMING LIVE, IF SO HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
I think everybody gets a little nervous, or at least you feel a little adrenalin. Simon takes a little walk; Olof drinks his tee with butter and talk about the gig with Emil.
HOW DID YOU FORM THE BAND?
It all started years ago when Simon became Emil's guitar teacher. They pretty fast found each other and started playing cover gigs.
After a few years, they got tired of playing covers and started translating and rearranging a lot of popular rock/pop songs.
By this time they realised that they also wanted a lead singer and they found Olof.
When Olof joined the band and we all started to work with the songs Simon also started to write his own music. Simon, Olof and Emil started working with Simons draft and idea for the song and pretty fast realized. We want to write our own music. It has taken us about two years to find our sound. And today we are very proud of it! Enjoy!
HOW DO YOU WRITE? - DO YOU HAVE A KEY SONGWRITER, OR DO YOU ALL WORK TOGETHER?
Normally Simon has an idea, for lyrics riffs and melodies. He records and gives his ideas to Olof that take a critical look at it, Olof re-records it with his vocals and pretty often changing the key, lyrics and parts of the melody. (Sometimes almost no changes at all) After that we all start recording together, setting harmonies, take it home and listen to it. Comes up with more ideas/changes, rerecord it. Take it home listen to it… And after a few rounds when we feel, we can’t do it better than this, we record the “final version” and send it to our fantastic producers for mixing and mastering.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Everything around me. I always want to be around people that can teach me things and make me grow.
WHAT IS NEXT?
We try to decide if it’s an album release or if we should release another single first. And after that, it will probably be a release for an EP in Germany that we are recording as we speak.
