Fire the Humans is a project born in the United States. Comprised of published singer/songwriter Jeff Lee and 3X Grammy Winner John DeNosky. Jeff started this project as he was writing throughout the pandemic in 2020 and had just finished up shows for a band he is also the singer of called, The Pour. Fire the Humans is a culmination of raspy vocals, soulful cadence and stadium size hooks laid atop organic and digital beds of groove and feeling.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR NEW ALBUM OR SINGLE
- The new single, 'CLEVER', will be released on Oct 31st, 2024. Inspired by the growing game of social media flirtation and the revolving door it's created.
WHICH SONG WOULD YOU SAY SUMS UP YOUR SOUND THE BEST?
- Music evolves and becomes chapters or seasons in your journey. Currently, I'd say 'CLEVER' is a great representation of what Fire the Humans is. Imagine Rival Sons and Prince had a baby..... That would be Fire the Humans.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO MUSIC?
- I was born into music. My parents were both musicians and I would watch them play. I'd study them and other musicians and began teaching myself how to play instruments. Constructing melodies, songs, etc. I took to drums as a kid, but in my early teens began singing quite a bit, eventually fronting bands.
WHAT DOES TYPICAL WRITING AND RECORDING DAY LOOK LIKE?
- Writing comes in different forms. I like depth and inspiration when writing. Something that paints an image from either real world experience or truth. People have to feel what they're listening to. Some songs are written quickly, some have taken years. The new single 'Clever' was inspired by a statement my son made one day. He had mentioned that dating is complicated nowadays. A girl no longer needs a man's attention as she gets it in the form of social media. 500 people tell her how pretty she is and there are another 500 guys waiting to take your place. This song is from the experience of a girl leaning into that freedom and playing both sides of the fence.
HOW DID YOU GET YOUR BAND NAME/ STAGE NAME?
- Fire the Humans is a play on words. A tongue n' cheek reference to how poorly we're doing as a human species and if another world is watching our behavior, they probably wouldn't be impressed.
WHAT HAS BEEN THAT HARDEST THING ABOUT YOUR MUSIC JOURNEY SO FAR?
- It's art. Some people see the beauty ... some do not.
WHAT'S BEEN THE EASIEST?
- Those that see the beauty and understand it.
WHAT WOULD YOU DOING IF YOU WEREN'T MAKING MUSIC?
- I'd be a painter or a writer. Creating something out of nothing.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN?
- 'Remember when you wanted what you currently have'
WHAT'S NEXT?
- Releasing 'CLEVER' is next on the list and finishing up signing our sync deal in Los Angeles California this month. Then everyone from Netflix to the NFL will be able to play Fire the Humans in their catalog.
